Für das Zentralwerk ist die Bezeichnung „Projekt“ unpassend, denn das Zentralwerk hat mein Leben und Arbeit in Deutschland am meisten geprägt. Ausgehend von einem losen Kollektiv, das in den 2000er Jahren in der Dresdner Friedrichstadt einen gemeinsamen Ort gefunden und entwickelt hat, entstand eine Genossenschaft, die über 7000 qm der Immobilienspekulation entzogen hat, daraus ein Wohn-und Arbeitsort für Kulturschaffende gemacht hat, der auf Selbstverwaltung und ein eigenes kulturellen Programm aufbaut. Das Abenteuer begann 2005 und dauert bis heute an. 2009 bis 2019 war ich als Vorstand des Vereins für das Zentralwerk auch offiziell mitverantwortlich. Heute kümmere ich mich für das Zentralwerk vor allem um den Umgang mit der Vergangenheit des Geländes und um weitere kulturelle Aktivitäten, insbesondere Kooperationen mit externen Gruppen.
For the Zentralwerk, the term „project“ is inappropriate, because the Zentralwerk has shaped my life and work in Germany the most. Starting from a loose collective that found and developed a common place in Dresden’s Friedrichstadt in the 2000s, a cooperative emerged that took over 7,000 square metres out of real estate speculation and turned it into a living and working space for cultural workers, based on self-management and its own cultural programme. The adventure began in 2005 and continues to this day. From 2009 to 2019, I was officially co-responsible for the Zentralwerk as a member of the association’s board. Today, I am mainly responsible for dealing with the site’s past and for other cultural activities, especially cooperation with external groups.
